One of our members has come into possession of a very rare bike recently.
Gerald Massey is now the proud owner of a 1990 Yamaha Super Tenere XT750. It is one of only a few (if not the only) that were legally imported through Canada. The XT750 Super Tenere was brought here by a dealer in Florida for a September 1990 Cycle Magazine photo shoot. When the dealership folded, the inventory was sold off and this particular motorcycle was bought by a collector, where it sat in his collection for decades.
Before Gerald took possession, another PNWSTOG member, Kyle Bryant, eventually purchased the bike from that collector to go along with his 2013 XT1200 Super Tenere. It was a dream bike combo for Kyle, but unfortunately he was only able to keep it for a short time. Gerald saw an opportunity to keep it in the group and he jumped on it. He drove all the way from southwest Washington to southwest Montana to pickup the bike; quite the labor of love I’d say.
This XT750 Super Tenere is all original except for a new set of tires put on by Kyle. It only has about 10,000 km/6,000 mi on the motor, and oh, by the way, its VIN number is 119!! It even has the factory service manual and a copy of the 1990 Cycle magazine to go with it. We scanned the article for your viewing pleasure (see below).
Gerald tells me that he doesn’t own any “garage queens” and plans to be at several of the PNWSTOG events next year. It’s another great reason to join us for our events: a chance to ride alongside a real piece of history. Come join us!

I love how low slung the motor is. That thing is certifiably bad ass!
