It was an amazing weekend in the Mt Hood NF for the PNWSTOG. The fun started Friday night at Pro Caliber Vancouver where GM Travis Richards and Yamaha USA hosted a Texas BBQ. Travis and his crew went all out offering discounts and with help from the Klim rep, Matt Tamalomis to give away great gear. Thanks Pro Caliber, Klim and Yamaha!
Saturday started at the Tollgate inn in Sandy with the usual line up of bikes. After a good breakfast the guys broke up into small groups and headed off on their adventures. There were about 25-30 Super Teneres between the Friday BBQ and the weekend ride. 5 members came from Victoria on Vancouver Island BC, 2 rode in from California and 1 traveled all the way from Dallas Texas!
One of the routes traveled is over the “Old Barlow rd” which is the last leg of Oregon trail. The condition of the road looks like the last wagon passed thru there about a week ago. 😉 All the guys that did that route found it challenging and a “kick in the pants” fun! By far, the best route of the day was up to Cloud Cap. The road is just rough enough to make it fun and it takes you to the most spectacular view of Mt Hood. Everyone that went up there raved about the views.
The day ended back at Paul Nelson’s house in Sandy with a pizza party and a drawing for all the donated merch from Yamaha, Altrider, Konflict Suspension, All Moto tire and Cyclops lights.
Thanks you to everyone that donated stuff!
Sunday started off slow with a breakfast of leftover pizza and bagels at Paul’s house, most of the riders were headed back home but took routes they didn’t do the previous day. Doug, Bernie, Steve and the rest of the Canadians headed north thru the fires of central Wa on their way to Winthrop for the night before catching the ferry out of Anacortes. Steve from Texas and Paul Nelson headed out to do a few sections of the IDBDR (that weren’t on fire)
Here is Paul Guerin’s 1st attempt at video editing, I think he did a great job!
I can’t thank everyone enough that supported and attended this event. This is truly WHY WE RIDE!
